The Power of Fasting and Prayer

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To lose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isa. 58:6

Fasting is one of the greatest spiritual weapons that God has given us, the benefits are unending.

Eph 3:16 says: “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man”

The inner man is a reference to the “spirit man” as opposed to the flesh, which is the outer man, therefore when we abstain from food; it is the subjugating or humbling of the outer man of the flesh. By so doing we strengthen the inner man and in effect makes the spiritual man far more effective in prayer, in overcoming the works of the enemy and in obtaining the desires of our heart.

See these verses from Isaiah 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward.  9Then shalt thou call and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;  “And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Fasting is extremely good for the soul, the spirit and the body, it gives the digestive system time to rest and helps to purge the body. It will also increase the anointing and gives you power!

Practice a weekly fast, at least 24 hours, and you will see a great difference in your spiritual life, in particular.

God bless you.
